It’s that time again – a brand new year. YES! I always love a new year, as it causes me to reflect on the past year and look ahead to the future. And while I believe every day is a new opportunity for a new beginning, there is something special about starting a new year. It’s a great reminder to get moving, take action and just do it.

There have been many projects that I’ve been really wanting to do but for one reason—okay, excuse—or another, they just haven’t gotten started.  I needed to remind myself of one of the mantras that I ALWAYS used to say but have fallen out of recently, which is “Just Do It” (thank you, Nike)

Just Do It

I am fully embracing this mantra again. To me it means ACTION, so I’m no longer going to procrastinate on projects that seem “too complicated” or require too much brain power but instead attack them head on.

The other day, I took action on one project I’ve been putting off, which is getting some pictures taken. With lots of personal stuff going on, I have not been exercising the way I want (feeling a little soft), my roots are gray (I need to get to the salon desperately), I need a manicure,  and I want to go shopping for some new clothes. My daughter’s been offering me a fun photo shoot, but I’ve been pushing her off. Remembering my renewed mantra, though, we said to each other, “let’s go out and experiment, have some fun and JUST DO IT!” And guess what, it was so fun! I got some workable pics that I can always improve upon in the future, and all the things I made such a big deal about that were “holding me back” ended up not being such a big deal anyway!

Life is so fun if you “Just Do It”

So as you plan for the year ahead and tackle your life head on, remember to Just Do It! Go ahead, you’ll be glad you did.

Astute readers will recall that this is also the time of year that I think about what I want my word of the year to be. Read the post here from last year, if you want to learn more about that. I highly recommend you do this! It works! Stay tuned for my word of the year in the next blog. It’s a favorite one of mine but it is indeed hard!!
